YOUR FLAVEL NEEDS YOU!
March 2018
One of the main strengths of the Flavel has always been its volunteer force and without it we simply would not exist but we are now looking to welcome new recruits. Details are below so, if you are interested in a challenge, please contact Sally Walley by email initially on sally@theflavel.org.uk, giving a brief outline of what your interest is and we can then arrange for you to pop in for a chat.
VOLUNTEERS TO TAKE ON THE ROLE OF VOLUNTEER DUTY MANAGER:
The Flavel has maintained a policy of always being open and we are all very proud of maintaining this goal since opening almost 13 years ago. This means we need to cover around 90 hours every week with a Duty Manager on site. This can present a considerable challenge to our dedicated but small team of Duty Managers but one way we can support them is by the use of several more Volunteer Duty Managers. The role may include opening up in the morning, answering queries, running the Box Office and taking delivery of orders. It is all about making sure that our customers are looked after and enjoy their Flavel experience. All training will be provided, so if you would like to join our management team and can spare us a few hours, then we can promise you a very worthwhile volunteer experience.
VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH ADMIN AND FINANCE:
The Flavel provides about 600 film and other events during the year and also around 800 room hires. All this takes a huge amount of time and effort to keep our admin and finance systems updated. We currently need help in assisting our staff in this area so, if you have any relevant expertise we would love to welcome you on board!
VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH DATA COMPLIANCE PROJECT- GDPR:
The Government recently announced changes to the legal basis on which organisations can store data. All organisations have to contact the names they hold on their databases to verify that they are happy to continue to receive marketing information. With a 7000-strong mailing list this is quite an undertaking for us. If you have a few hours each week over the next couple of months that you can assist in helping us complete this exercise before 25th May it would be very welcome especially if you have previous experience in working with computer databases.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your support.
