We are pleased to let you know that the team have been busy making plans for the reopening of The Flavel in September. Complying with social distancing of course means that The Flavel may not look and feel quite the same as when you last visited.
Our absolute priority, as you would expect is to ensure that all of our visitors, plus our staff and volunteers are kept safe, and that we will be operating with all of the required safeguarding measures in place. You can expect to see a screen at the box office, and all bookings will have to be made in advance online or by ‘phone, and there will be a one way system around the building with stewards to guide you. We expect both the Library and the Café to be open, together with our meeting rooms.
Social distancing restrictions will result in the capacity in our auditorium being reduced, and unfortunately we are not able to plan any live events until next year, with many of the live events that we had planned for this autumn now being rescheduled for 2021.
We are very much in uncharted territory right now, and this situation is likely to continue when we reopen, so to begin with we will be taking small steps so that we can assess demand and react to changing circumstances. Initially, we plan to open from 9.00am to 5.00pm from Monday to Saturday, plus also showing films on Friday and Saturday nights. We expect to increase our film nights to three per week in October, four in November etc, with a series of special music themed films planned for every Friday night. Full details will be announced on our website in early August.
All of our plans of course are subject to change at short notice so please keep an eye on our website: www.theflavel.org.uk where you will find the latest information.
This has been a very trying time for all of us, so we would like to thank you for your many messages of support. Please come back and see us as soon as you feel able, we promise to give you a big socially distanced welcome and keep you safe!
