Food
If food is your thing Totnes Good Food Sunday is a must on Sunday April 20 - its the biggest monthly producers' and farmers' market in the Westcountry. Held on the 3rd Sunday of every month
The big food event of the month is the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink from 25 - 27 April. Its a great opportunity to see the city with workshops and activities and over 70 food stalls.
Theatre
South Devon Arts Centre is a new venue in Totnes with a range of arts activities and events. On April 17th go see Lucifer Saved by National Theatre playwright Peter Oswald and performed by The Abyss Theatre Company.
Music
The Flavel Centre in Dartmouth has shows and events to suit all. On the night of Friday 26th they are thrilled to be welcoming rising music start Gabrielle Ducomble bringing her special blend of Gallic charm and sophistication performing Parisian-style Jazz and Tango. From Pop Idol to Piaf...
Family Days Out
Both National Trust properties at Coleton Fishacre and Greenway will be hosting a number of eggciting activities including trails in the gardens from April 18 - April 21.
Paignton Zoo is a great family day out and from 15th - 30th April they are releasing 800 colourful butterflies into the tropical Crocodile Swamp as part of their Incredibel Invertebrates year.
The Racing season is on us and the unforgettable Family Day at the Exeter Race course is on from 12 til 5pm on Tuesday 15th April. Tractor Ted will be putting in an appearance with lots to keep everyone busy alongside the 2 pony races and 7 horse races.
Crafts
The Market Square in Dartmouth will be getting all crafty for the 2nd monthly Dartmouth Artisan Market on Saturday 26th April. The first one in March was hugely popular and is a chance to pick up individual items by some very talented and creative crafters!
Outdoors
Days are longer and nature is springing into action and if you enjoy the early morning sounds of birds why not make your way over to the Slapton Ley Field Centre to join a guided dawn chorus walk from 6 - 8am on April 26th.
Something different
Live events streamed from top venues in London are now available to view locally and an unmissable tour of the British Museum's Vikings exhibition will be screened at the Flavel in Dartmouth on Thursday 24th and Wednesday 30th April. With demonstrations, stunning close-up photography of the Viking objects in the exhibition and a live, torch-lit burial in the grounds of the Museum, the broadcast of Vikings Live will be a reminder of how the Vikings have shaped our modern lives.
