Torcross
Torcross
The pretty South Hams village of Torcross nestles between the beach and the fresh water lake (Ley) nature reserve. The village is at the western end of Slapton Sands in the centre of Start Bay. The village and surrounding area is steeped in history as it was used by the Americans during World War 2 to practice the D-Day Landings. There is an American Sherman Tank in the village car park to commemorate those who lost their lives there during the practice.
