The North and South Embankment
South Embankment, Dartmouth, TQ6 9BHWe’ve all been there but the trick is not to get too close to anyone else and we're told the steps are a particularly good spot!

Dittisham Pontoon
DittishamOff the pontoon – an old favourite where the crabs make a run for it back into the water if you’re not quick enough and handily close to The Ferry Boat Inn and The Anchorstone Café for refreshments.

Dartmouth Castle Ferry Steps
A little further away from the crowds but it’s a lovely spot and you can tie it in with a ferry ride from the Castle.

Stoke Gabriel
Village Centre, Totnes, TQ9Reputedly one of the best crabbing spots in the country, either alongside the shore of the mill pool, by the side of the quay or along the dam. It’s an easy place to while away a few hours especially with The River Shack Café www.therivershack.co.uk Tel: 01803 782520 on your doorstep – selling top local produce and all essential crabbing equipment.

Bayards Cove
Bayards Cove, DartmouthIf you like a bit of history with your crabs this is the spot – if the crabs aren’t forthcoming the cannons can spark the young ones imagination as they pretend to protect and defend the town!

Kingswear Railway Line
DartmouthAnd the lesser known spot is the footpath along the railway line in Kingswear. Make sure you go at high tide and if you’re lucky you’ll get a close up of the steam train as it puffs past.
