The Snowball lights up Dartmouth
Dartmouth is set to light up in spectacular fashion this winter, thanks to money raised by dozens of local businesses who have come together to put on the aptly named Snowball at The Flavel on 8th November.
Entertainment, food and drinks have all been donated, and it is hoped that this one-off event will raise over £7,000, enabling the town to illuminate itself in style for the festive season ahead.
Tickets for The Snowball, which starts at 7pm on 8th November, have been selling well, with just 14 remaining to be sold; tickets can be bought by calling Lucy Jonas on 07792486362.
For those lucky enough to have bought tickets at £45 per head, they can look forward to a great night of music and dancing, as well as food from some of the town’s most celebrated chefs, using a wonderful selection of produce courtesy of Dartmouth’s many fine food establishments.
Further funds will be raised through the sale of tickets for a grand raffle, which includes a top prize of a tasting tour at Sharp’s Brewery as well as a meal for two at The Mariners, jointly owned by Sharp’s Brewery and Nathan Outlaw.
On arrival guests will be welcomed with drinks courtesy of Sharpham Vineyard. Canapés will be provided by Bayard’s Cove Inn and Mama’s Kitchen. Bread and desserts are being donated by Saveurs, while butter will be provided by Dartmouth Dairy, and water for the tables will be donated by Devonia.
The starters for the evening are being provided by Mitch Tonks and his team at The Seahorse Restaurant. Main courses are being prepared by The Royal Castle Hotel with duck legs courtesy of Creedy Carver. Cheese is being donated by both Dartmouth Dairy and Dart
to Mouth Deli, while apples, celery, grapes & chutney are being provided by Gilly’s Farm. To round off the evening coffee is being provided by Cru Catering at the Flavel.
Local pianist Will Gornall will start off the evening of entertainment with music as guests arrive. This will be followed later in the evening by songs from local a capella group Dartmouth Rock Choir, jazz from the Ronnie Jones Quartet, and music from the ‘Misfits’, a group of talented local musicians put together specially for the Snowball.
Commenting on the fundraising activity, the mastermind behind the ball and BID Chairman Nigel Way MBE, said, “Dartmouth has come together in spectacular fashion. Through the generosity of local businesses we are creating a truly memorable evening of entertainment that will raise thousands of pounds for the town’s Christmas lights. We have a fantastic line-up of live music, wonderful canapés and a sumptuous three-course meal, which will be enjoyed by over 120 paying guests.”
He added: “All manner of businesses have come together to make this evening possible, ranging from the Flavel, which has provided the venue for the evening, to Dartmouth Laundry Company, who are providing linen for the evening. Floral displays have been donated by Flowersmiths; Kingfisher Print have kindly agree to print all menus, posters and promotional material; and media support is being provided by Estuary PR and Communication.”
