The Flavel is 10 Years Old!
In February the Flavel is celebrating ten wonderful years of putting on live events, art exhibitions, films and live screenings, and hosting piano workshops, Yoga, Pilates, flower arranging, children's workshops, bridge groups, U3A and much more...
We couldn't have done it without the sheer grit and determination of the original trustees and their team of supporters, who campaigned tirelessly to get the project off the ground over ten years ago.
On 26th February The Lord Lieutenant of Devon, Sir Eric Dancer, will attend a celebratory reception at the Flavel, ten years after officially opening the Arts Centre in February 2005.
In those early days, nobody would have dared to dream that the Flavel could become such a vibrant centre at the heart of the town. It is truly remarkable, in that it is run by a few staff, supported by a large group of volunteers and without the aid of council or government grants.
So here we are, ten years old with a lot to be proud of. We have a great lineup of events to celebrate, starting with Dartmouth's first Beer Festival on 21st February, a celebratory lunch on 22nd, BRNC Big Band concert on 26th and Tina May sings Edith Piaf on 28th. We also have an art exhibition from Dartmouth Academy, an exhibition of the Flavel story and some fun children's events throughout the week.
The success of the Flavel is an extraordinary story, so come along and find out more and help us to celebrate this joyous occasion!
