Premier Garage
Spotlight - Premier Garage
There was a time when all villages had their own filling station. These days they are increasingly rare, but the Premier Garage in Stoke Fleming continues to thrive under the management of husband and wife team David and Alison Clark.
The garage has a range of services – forecourt fuel, servicing and repairs, a convenience shop full of groceries and essentials for camping and the beach, and car accessories.
David is the mechanic and the owner. He took over the garage from his father Alf 32 years ago.
“My father had a garage business in London, and I always worked with the cars. I was born into it. But when they built the North Circular we ended up in cul-de-sac, which wasn’t good, so we all moved down here – my father, mother, sister and me.”
Alison is Dartmouth born and bred, and that’s where the couple now make their home.
David said: “People can put their cars here if they want to sell them, and we have a big workshop where we can deal with all sorts of repairs and servicing – whatever our customers need.”
