The Dartmouth ‘Keep It Local’ campaign (launched by the Dartmouth BID) encourages residents and businesses to use local shops and services via a new town Loyalty Card that provides discounts and free gifts on many products and services throughout the town.
The aim of this campaign is to keep money in the local economy and help local businesses survive and prosper. Research shows that every £1 spent with a local supplier keeps £1.76 in the local economy. (New Economics Foundation).

Here’s why we should Keep it Local in Dartmouth:
# Local independent shops and businesses invest more in our community by supporting more local charities, schools and community events and employing more local people.
# Independent shops create distinctive shopping experiences for tourists and residents – if we don’t use them, Dartmouth will lose its vitality and business will go elsewhere.
# It’s better for the environment as local shops stock locally sourced goods which do not require long distance transportation, etc. helping to reduce our global footprint.
# Keep it local and create jobs
# Shops in our town create local employment and self-employment. These people in turn spend in the local community.
# Keeping it local saves local services because private and public sector services tend to cluster around shops. If our shops disappear so will our banks and restaurants, etc.
