'Aquarium' by Sir Peter Blake
New Summer Exhibition at Coombe Gallery - from 23rd August 2014
Coombe Gallery is bringing fresh new limited edition silkscreen prints to Dartmouth by some of their favourite artists but also by some new ones. Back by popular demand is Sir Peter Blake with great new work such as his celebration of 75 years of the Beano and a great lenticular of the Eiffel tower. There will of course be other work by this icon of British Pop art including ‘The Aquarium’ which at a size of 150 x 110cms makes it a real statement piece.
We are also pleased to announce that we will be stocking work of Scottish artist Bruce Mclean. Known not only for his painting and printmaking but also subversive sculpture and performance art, McLean has gained international recognition and was Head of Graduate Painting at The Slade School of Fine Art, London. He has also had numerous one-man exhibitions including at the Tate Gallery in London, The Modern Art Gallery in Vienna and Museum of Modern Art, Oxford.
Dan Baldwin is much in demand after his recent affiliation with rock band Green Day and past artwork for singer Paolo Nutini. His work is full of easily recognizable symbols from hearts to skulls, religious artefacts to budgerigars and can be dark and sinister to kitsch and gold. Despite all this apparent chaos there are connections to be found through the symbols that bear repeated viewings. Great work to add a contemporary twist to your collection.
We will also be exhibiting work by Barbara Rae, Sir Terry Frost, Brad Faine, Lucy Farley and Martin Richardson so do come along on Friday 23rd August from 10am to enjoy the show.
