New book by Nick Fletcher
By The Dart’s hard-nosed motoring writer Nick Fletcher has revealed his softer side – by publishing a book of love poems! The book, Dark Heart, underlines that love and romance should be everyday events and not just for special occasions.
Says Nick: “I have themed my poems around the deep need that we all have for love, and the search for it. The poems underline that love is at the core of human life and that words and gestures of love should be exchanged between partners as often as possible - even every day.
"Given the pace of modern life, it is all too easy to overlook romance and take a partner for granted. But romantic moments give reassurance and help sustain relationships over the long term."
Dark Heart ( Classic Books, £5.99) is a collection of poems which explore the passion and sometimes the pain of love and includes a story of romantic deception which took place in Salcombe in the 1970s.
“In my case, the search for true love took a long time, with several false-starts and some heartbreak now and then, as the poems reveal, but overall the tone of the book is upbeat and life-affirming," he said.
Yet even in a book of love poetry, Nick couldn’t ignore motoring. One of his poems is titled Girl In A Convertible!
