Rowcroft Hospice has opened a new boutique shop in Lower Street, Dartmouth, selling a selection of preloved ladies’ and men’s clothing, accessories, shoes and bric-a-brac.
The shop marks the first time the hospice has had a presence in the town since 2007, despite its services supporting hundreds of local families in and around Dartmouth every year. Caroline Wannell, Head of Retailat Rowcroft Hospice, explained: “Many of the more than 2,000 people living with life-limiting illnesses Rowcroft supports every year live in
Dartmouth and its surrounding towns and villages, so we are delighted to be opening a new shop in the town that will help to raise awareness of this and generate vital funds.”
The new boutique will be open from 9am – 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and Caroline is keen to stress that by making a purchasein-store, you’ll be making a huge difference to the lives of local people. She explained: “In 2016 Rowcroft’s shops generated a contribution of over £350,000 to the running of the hospice’s services; we are now looking forward to having a presence in Dartmouth to help generate additional funds and support this vital local charity.”
John Cottington from Blackawton, whose wife was cared for by Rowcroft earlier this year, said: “Having a Rowcroft shop in Dartmouth will make people far more aware of the hospice and the essential services it offers our local community.”
The new boutique’s Lower Street location was chosen because of its very minimal renovation requirements and prominent position. Its opening takes Rowcroft’s total number of shops in South Devon to16, including a tea room in Churston, coffee shop in Ashburton and Furniture Outlets in Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot.
