Riverside House is a lovely 18th century thatched house in an idyllic, tranquil setting on the banks of the River Dart.It is an ideal place to unwind and just sit and watch the wildlife.
There are some lovely walks along the river from the house, which is on the Dart Valley Trail. Guests are welcome to bring their own canoes, kayaks or dinghies to explore the river. Contact us for more details regarding the size of boat you might wish to bring.
Totnes is ten minutes away, and Dittisham, Dartmouth and Salcombe are all within a half-hour drive and ideally placed to visit Sharpham Vineyrad and Dartington Hall.
Tuckenhay is a tiny village, but boasts two good pubs, both of them on the river. The nearest pub, The Maltsters, is noted for its superb sea food, and there are barbecues on the quay in the summer.
The whole house is let on a self-catering basis at times throughout the year, by arrangement with the owners.
On the ground floor there is a well-equipped kitchen, overlooking the river, with seating for 10 if necessary. The large living room has a wood-burning fire, an old Victorian piano, TV, DVDs, videos, and lots of games. There are three double bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms and one which shares a shower room with the fourth bedroom. This room has twin beds and a set of bunk beds and lots of toys and children’s books (our grandchildren love it!) Two of the double bedrooms have balconies overlooking the river.
The tranquil garden is an ideal setting to relax whilst you watch the ducks and boats go by. If you wish you can breakfast here in the sun for a romantic start to the day. There is not only garden furniture and a barbecue, but a slipway to launch your canoes or dinghies!
