National Marine AquariumThe National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is the largest public aquarium in the UK, with more than 300,000 visitors every year. As a self-funded charity, the aquarium is a hive of education, conservation and research activities. The Atlantic Ocean Exhibit is the largest and deepest tank in the UK, with an impressive 2.5 million litres of water.
This tank is also now home to ‘Friday’, a green turtle on loan this year from Bournemouth Oceanarium. He joins many inhabitants, including sand tiger, lemon and nurse sharks and huge stingrays.
And among many other tanks and exhibits is the Eddystone Reef tank, with the UK’s largest single-tank viewing panel – an impressive fishy cinema screen!
The aquarium is open everyday. See www.national-aquarium.co.uk for more information.
