The gardens at Castle Drogo include a 12-acre formal garden, Rose Garden which the owner created for his wife Frances as roses were her favourite flowers, and The Bunty House created for his daughter, complete with its own miniature cottage garden, vegetables and flowers.
The circular croquet lawn is a great spot for an impromptu game of tennis or croquet on a fine spring day.
The café serves local produce. Local plants inspired by the gardens can be bought at the shop. There are also picnic areas at the castle and Fingle Bridge.
The gardens are open from 11am to 4pm. Dogs are welcome on leads. The castle is undergoing a major restoration process and access may be limited or changed at certain times so it is advisable to check before setting out.
