Chris Gale - Dart Plumbing & Heating
Chris Gale previously owned a successful plumbing firm in Newbury for over 20 years and set up his new company, Dart Plumbing & Heating Ltd, after he moved to Dartmouth in 2006 to be with his partner, Karen Cooper who owns Chadwick Financial Management, in Hauley Road, Dartmouth.
Dart Plumbing & Heating Ltd are registered heating specialists with Gas Safe and Oftec. Chris offers a local, reliable and professional service and is now concentrating on the domestic market, specialising in boiler repairs, boiler installations (gas and oil), small repair jobs as well as installation projects.
Dart Plumbing & Heating Ltd has become well established locally and provides a number of landlord checks for let properties, both privately and for local letting agents including Singer & Singer, Freeborns and Blue River Cottages.
If you are a landlord, you are legally responsible for ensuring that a Gas Safe registered engineer checks the gas appliances in your rental properties every 12 months and gives you copies of the gas safety records. You must give your tenant a copy of these gas safety records within 28 days of the checks being done, or give a copy of the gas safety record to a new tenant before they move in. You are also obliged to show your tenants how they can turn off the gas supply in the event of a gas leak
After leaving school, Chris joined the Army and during his service joined the QE2 destined for the Falklands. After his 8 years in the Army, he took the opportunity to take an intensive plumbing and heating course. He completes the mandatory Gas and Oil training course every 5 years.
Chris has gained valuable experience over the years ranging from changing a tap washer to large commercial installations and has also built 2 houses in Newbury. He has been a member of the Institute of Plumbing for over 22 years and CORGI registered since 1991, which preceded Gas Safe.
It’s not “all work and no play” though - Chris has become a keen rower since moving to Dartmouth and is an active member of the Dartmouth Gig Club and was part of the Dolphin crew that won the Men’s LVA this Regatta.
With the cold weather setting in, it is important to ensure you have an annual health check on your boiler.
Gas safety is one of the most important factors in having a safe home. The dangers that surround unsafe gas appliances are deadly serious. Poorly maintained, faulty or badly installed gas work leads to carbon monoxide poisoning, the effects of which can be fatal.
Anyone carrying out gas work must have a Gas Safe Register ID card. If not, they are breaking the law and putting you and your family at risk. The Gas Safe register is there to make sure you don’t fall into the trap of paying for illegal gas work with your health, and possibly your life.
Don’t take any chances with Gas - your family or tenants and their safety is at risk – please call Chris to arrange your annual boiler service.
Alternatively, you may be planning home improvements, a new boiler, heating system, new bathroom etc and he would be happy to offer his advice, supply and installation.
Chris can be contacted on 07973 345080 or email chris@dartplumbing.co.uk and website www.dartplumbing.co.uk has invaluable advice on gas safety.
