The Town Council own and manage:
Longcross Cemetery
Longcross Cemetery is situated in the Townstal area of Dartmouth and is approximately 200 years old. Access to Burial Records are available on request. For information on reservation of plots/headstones please contact the Guildhall Offices.
Market
Dartmouth Market has undergone a major facelift which includes several entirely new shop units which both complement the existing shops and provide a variety of goods. Markets are held on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday,
including a Farmer’s Market on the second Saturday of each month. The Market is available for hiring for special occasions and for further information please telephone 01803 832281.
Butterwalk
Situated in Duke Street, the historic Grade I Listed building of the Butterwalk houses both domestic and retail units, including the Dartmouth Museum.
Orchard
The three and a half acre Orchard is situated between College Way and Ridge Hill/Mount Boone. The land was bought from the Ministry of Defence in 1991 and in 1996 a land management agreement for three years between South Hams District Council and the Town Council enabled it to be restored, enhancing the wildlife and landscape value. More than 70 new apple trees of several varieties have been planted. You are more than welcome to come and pick some of the apples in the Autumn, but please leave some for other people! The Council would like to encourage everyone to make use of the Orchard - families, individuals, youngsters, schools and youth organizations. If there is anything we can do to assist your visit, please let us know.
Boatfloat
Situated in front of the Royal Castle Hotel the Boatfloat is currently full with 80+ vessels. Moorings are renewed an¬nually on 1st April. If you wish to be included on our Waiting List (maximum vessel length 18’) please contact the Guildhall offices.
We have two rooms available for hire within the Guildhall. The Clifton Room will accommodate a maximum of 60 people and is ideal for meetings and other small events. The Ballroom will accommodate a maximum of 200 people. It has a stage at one end, making it ideal for dramatic or musical events. The Council Chamber within the Guildhall is mainly used for Council Committee meetings, but is also used on a regular basis for Marriage Ceremonies, as the Council holds a Civil Marriage Licence. All enquiries re wedding ceremonies should in the first instance be made to the registrar on 01626 206347.
