Bartons Solicitors
Tracie is an extremely successful family and divorce lawyer who has a reputation for combining her legal acumen with a friendly, understanding manner which makes her very popular with clients. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and has over 17 years experience in all aspects of family law, and specialises in the financial implications of family breakdown. Tracie will be working from the company’s offices in Kingsbridge and Totnes for clients locally, and across the UK and worldwide.
Tracie joins solicitor Fiona Wadey in the family department, and they are supported by Chartered Legal Executive Nicola Kovacic and legal assistants Kelly Hutchings and Amy Hart. Both she and Fiona are members of Resolution, a family law organisation which promotes minimising conflict in family disputes and encouraging solutions that meet the needs of the whole family, and in particular the best interests of the children. Fiona has recently qualified as a Resolution Mediator.
The department is headed by Managing Director, David Hassall who transferred to the Bar at the end of last year to work as a barrister, following over 20 years working as a solicitor.
Members of the family team understand the many complex issues to consider when a relationship breaks down and work with understanding to ensure the most satisfactory and realistic outcome is achieved for their clients. They promote a non-confrontational approach to minimise the stress and costs involved in any breakdown, but if circumstances demand it they will fight hard for their clients. Fiona and Tracie also regularly deal with pre and post nuptial agreements which, following
a Supreme Court judgment, have an important role to play in protecting family wealth and assets.
The areas of law that Fiona and Tracie provide advice on include:-
• Divorce • Judicial Separation
• Dissolving Civil Partnerships
Bartons Solicitors have recently expanded their family law department with the appointment of Tracie Lange.
• Financial Agreements for Maintenance and Capital • Clean Break Orders
• Pension Sharing • Ownership/Occupation of and Rights to Property (Trusts of
Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996) • Protection from Harm and Non Molestation Orders • Cohabitation Law including Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. • Decisions about Children and applications under the Children Act 1989 to determine where they should live, who they should see, relocation of a child overseas, rights of grandparents and step parents, change of the child’s name, issues around proposed medical treatment.
The family department benefits from a strong in-house support service from property, commercial and private client lawyers within the company. This specialist knowledge enables the family department to support clients with advice that may be needed at crucial points in a relationship breakdown whether there are housing, wills and inheritance, agricultural or commercial issues that need to be considered. Whilst Bartons are regional solicitors with offices in Kingsbridge, Totnes, Salcombe, Plymouth and Bristol, they have the expertise to handle work for high net worth clients and they regularly deal with clients in London, Hong Kong and South Africa and other UK and national locations.
