Dartmouth Community Bookshop
The Dartmouth Community Bookshop is a not-for-profit community benefit society, set up specially to sell new books to local people and visitors to Dartmouth. We believe that many people want to browse and buy books in a bookshop and our shop is a focus for book-lovers in the area.
We are based at 12 Higher Street, Dartmouth, opposite the Cherub Inn, and set up following the closure of the famous, much loved Harbour Bookshop. We keep alive the connection with Christopher Robin Milne (who founded the Harbour Bookshop in the 1950s) by selling Winnie-the Pooh books. We have a good selection of childrens’ and adult books.
Orders are delivered in 24/48 hours. New stock is coming in all the time.
Andrea Saunders, who worked in the Harbour Bookshop for many years, is our professional, paid manager. The rest of us work as volunteers on a rota. A small committee meets four times a year.
