Dartmouth Baptist Church
Dartmouth Baptist Church's vision is to make Jesus known in Dartmouth.
There has been a Baptist Church in Dartmouth since the early 1600’s. Thomas Newcomen, the inventor of the first practical steam engine for pumping water, was a teaching elder and a Baptist lay preacher in the Baptist church in Dartmouth, which was then situated in the lower part of the town/ He was also pastor of the church from 1710 -1730.
The current church is currently situated in the middle of the Townstal estate since 1954. There are a variety of things going on in the building, seeking to provide a service to Dartmouth bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the local community in spiritual caring, as well as in practical ways.
