This May Bank Holiday, The Shops at Dartington is the place to be – join the fun at our 6th annual Food Fair for a Foraging delicious day out that will be to the whole family’s taste!
With over 40 of Devon’s finest food and drink producers showcasing their mouth-watering wares in and around the main marquee – in addition to those demonstrating in the expanded Food Shop – there is plenty to tempt the appetite.
This year will see the return of our famous Dartington Cider Bar – now also serving our very own Elmhirst Ale, made specially for Dartington by Hunter’s Brewery. You’ll also find a celebration of all forms of Devonian refreshment (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) nearby in our Devon Drinks shop. Back by popular demand, Mal Harradine – the talented TV chef – will be cooking up a storm alongside regional foodie heroes in the Cookery Theatre. Big Fire will be demonstrating alternative ways of cooking outside and Rachel Lambert will be taking groups to forage on the wider Dartington estate and explaining how to use the delicacies they discover.
For children we have pot throwing, face painting and performances by the amazing balloon magician Cosmo, in addition to visiting friends from Totnes Rare Breeds Farm and Devon Birds of Prey (weather dependent – as like us, they are not fond of rain!). Dynamic Adventures will be offering zip wire rides over the tree tops and for younger ones there will be a craft gazebo full of things to make and colour. Cook up a storm
Alongside Cranks Kitchen, The Venus Café and Takeaway will offer locally-sourced dishes – or for the more energetic, a walk up through the estate to the award-winning White Hart bar and restaurant at Dartington Hall is a treat not to be missed.
Working alongside Food and Drink Devon, the Food Fair aims to celebrate the very best of Devon’s thriving food and drink community, with emphasis on local, sustainable produce. All proceeds generated by the event go towards supporting The Dartington Hall Trust (a registered charity).
