Jennie Hale produces birds and mammals using the raku ceramic method: every animal is the result of long and happy observation. She will also exhibit a wide range of earthenware with illustrations that she has made from life.
Jennie studied ceramics and later trained under Marrianne de Trey at Dartington before setting up her own studio in a remote, beautiful wooded valley in Devon where for more than 20 years she has been producing a fantastic body of work, incorporating raku sculptures, earthenware vessels, watercolours and a published illustrated diary: ‘The Nature Diary of an Artist’.
Her recent move to Cornwall will further immerse her in the natural environment she so loves.
She will continue with her dawn walks across the woods and fields that provide inspiration for her work, always with her dog and armed with a sketchpad and notebook.
Jennie has extraordinary energy and creativity, as well as technical skill, engaging in hillwalking, mountaineering and sea kayaking which activities are catalysts to her rich imagination. She’s talented, experienced and productive. She will be at the preview night to chat with anyone who would like to meet her.
