Creating another explosion of ideas for the future

An invitation for children, young people, and families to celebrate the achievements of the last three years, showcasing art, food, music, crafts games, technology with a host of workshops, performances and entertainment.

At this open idea’s festival there will be food, music, talks, workshops and activities for everyone to get involved. Ready for the challenges? Why not come along and take part in the different opportunities on offer and collect enough passwords to entitle you to fabulous festival food, snacks and prizes.

Open to children, young people and families – FREE entrance.

Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is brought to you by the Imagine this… partnership of 50 organisations in the voluntary and community sector who jointly support the delivery of all kinds of different opportunities for children and young people in Torbay. Our collective aim is to find ways to put young people in the lead, working with them to make Torbay a better place to grow up. The five key challenges we’re working on, based on what young people told us they would like are:

• More spaces to hang out

• Reduced stress

• Greater access for ALL

• Safer streets

• Ways to protect our environment

About this event

This year (2022), we’re putting young people in the lead to bring us a FREE Family Festival showcasing and celebrating all that our young people and partners in the Imagine This... partnership have achieved over the last 3 years; to once again co-design and collaborate with young people and their families and look forward to the future.

We aim to make this festival bigger, brighter and more inclusive by inviting Sound Communities Studio Bus, Lego Masters community and other fun enriching organizations to work with us. We would also like to have an animal experience of some kind (raising awareness of local and global conservation efforts), ensure we have practical things like accessible toilets, a BSL Interpreter and a sensory safe space onsite and scrumptious things like healthy world food stalls, live cooking demonstrations & workshops.

Imagine This… is a partnership comprising of 50 VCSE organizations working with children, young people and families (CYPF) across Torbay. The Partnership has elected Torbay Community Development Trust (TCDT) as a non-delivery partner, to lead Imagine This... building on the skills developed delivering engagement and evaluation-based approaches.

Based upon the collaboration and co-design approaches with the young people that attended the previous Imagine This festival in 2019, which had the aim to find out what young people do in their free and leisure time and what suggestions they had for making Torbay a better place to live and grow up in, the young people came up with the 5 main challenges that face the youth of today.

From that, the Imagine This partnership launched 13 unique young person lead projects that went after the 5 main areas. This resulted in tremendous unity of our partners and engagement from young people in Torbay.
