
Stella - James Stewart
With this exhibition James is revisiting many of his favourite themes with new works alongside a small new collection of abstracts. Two impressive portraits will also be on display illustrating his excellence in this field.
The show is intended to showcase the range of James’s interests and talent. There will be work ranging from beach scenes to oversized book covers, sexy nudes to cut out butterflies, a Manhattan street scene to a mummified rat. He will also be displaying his haunting landscapes and quirky still life’s. A range of sizes and styles will provide for a dynamic show and treat for fans of James’s work.
For James the diversity of his subject matter is his style. Exploration is the key: “the only reason I want to do anything is to see what it looks like when it’s finished.”
James’s training and experience as an illustrator is telling in the trademark precision and detail of his draughtsmanship, His work has been on display at such prestigious UK exhibitions as the Royal Festival Hall, the London South Bank Exhibition, the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Benson and Hedges Gold Award and the BP National Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery.
James has recently finished writing and illustrating his first children’s book. “There’s a hole in my garden” To be published in September by US publishing house Albert Whitman.
