Children from Blackawton Primary school have used their creative skills to turn waste plastic into artworks making up a School of Fish.
It started with a summer beach clean on Slapton Sands organised by South West Water during which they found many nurdles, the tiny pellets of raw material from which nearly all our plastic products are made. One child commented that they would make great fish eyes and so the idea was born.
Bags of rubbish were collected and the children, lead by local environmentalist Fran Newman, created these artworks to spark debate and highlight the enormous plastic problem the world faces today.
