Dart Gallery has shown Claire’s captivating, impressionist landscapes since 2011. Launching on 25th May this year, the gallery will be showcasing their largest ever collection of her award-winning work (Claire began 2018 with a further success when she was awarded ‘Artist of the Year’ by Artists and Illustrator’s magazine from a field of over 2400 entries and 50 finalists). The solo show will take over the whole of the lower floor of the gallery and will feature up to 40 new paintings.
Claire describes the new collection in her own words: “‘Casting light’ is an exhibition that reflects a range of places and seasons within a year of painting. Light is everything and my intention is to try and capture that moment when a bit of magic happens on land or at sea. I am a keen walker and traveller and these experiences feed back into my work. Photos, sketches and memories are reinterpreted back in my studio when I create the finished work. As a result, my paintings combine aspects of reality with imagined, ambiguous elements. “
If you’re a fan already or new to Claire’s work be sure to not to miss this special show. Claire will be attending the First View at Dart Gallery to talk about her paintings.
‘Casting Light’ - A solo show of new work launches at Dart Gallery with a First View from 6.00pm on Friday 25th May.
