Free Porridge for School Children at Cafe Alf Resco all through the week!
Cafe Alf Resco in Dartmouth is taking part in the country’s biggest celebration of breakfast.
To mark Breakfast Week (25th – 31st January 2015) Cafe Alf Resco are encouraging all local school children to join them before school and become Breakfast Champions by starting their day the right way with Free Porridge or Pancakes throughout Breakfast Week.
A number of Breakfast Specials will also be on offer, including the new Alf's Breakfast Club Sandwich, Pick 'n' Mix Porridge, homemade Breakfast Energy Bars & Breakfast Smoothies for breakfast on the go. Free breakfast recipe booklets will also be available to take home.
On Wednesday 28th January, Charles Baughan from Westaway Sausages will be cooking up a Free a Sausage Sizzle & Hogs Pudding Expose. Come along between 7am - 9am and try out different recipe Hogs Pudding and we will see if it's breadcrumbs, oats or groats that tickle the tastebuds of Dartmouth! All are welcome.
On Friday 30th we will be taking Alf's across the river and serving pancakes with fruit toppings to promote the benefits of a healthy breakfast before school at the Kingswear Primary School Breakfast Club. are the most pop. Hundreds of other events are taking place around the country during the week.
Breakfast Week is organised by HGCA on behalf of UK cereal farmers and producers, who grow and make the foods we all enjoy at breakfast. It aims to encourage people to recognise the health benefits of eating breakfast regularly. Chef Phil Vickery, as seen on This Morning, is fronting the campaign.
Research shows that eating breakfast can give you more energy, help reduce stress levels, improve concentration, mood and may even help you to manage your weight,,,. However, a survey conducted for Breakfast Week shows that a worrying quarter (25%) of people are skipping breakfast once or more during the week, with more than one in ten (13%) never eating it. In schools, despite the number of breakfast clubs being on the rise, one in seven children are still going to school hungry.
