Family Day (Friday 16 Feb)
Workshops will be practical, involve making and doing
There will be a quiet space to support young people to unwind; Exhibition space exhibiting work from: Yourway Studios (Plymouth), Coordin8 (Torbay), SPLASH (Buckfastleigh) + Bidwell Brook School (Dartington)
Physical workshops: Dance (led by Young Artists supported by Dance in Devon), performance (led by the Theatre Royal Plymouth), interactive video workshop (led by Forkbeard Fantasy) and hot of the press Deaf Awareness + Signing Workshop (led by National Deaf Children’s Society)
Making workshops: Mask Making (led by Young Graphic Artists working with Daisi) + Animation workshop (led by young artists working with Create Studios), Music making (led by young artists supported by the Turning Tides Project), Taiko Drumming with Bidwell Brook
Performance: Relaxed Screening of Early Man at the Barn Cinema (there will be some lighting, reduced volume and a lot of tolerance in terms of audience noise levels and moving around), Debut performance in Devon for the South West Open Youth Orchestra – the World’s first disabled youth orchestra and lastly a steam punk masked ball in the Great Hall with the Turning Tides Big band - everybody welcome J + Arts Award Presentation after Open Youth Orchestra.
Teen day (Saturday 17 Feb)
Workshops will be practical, involve making and doing
There will be a quiet space AND an exhibition space to support young people to unwind
Physical workshops: Yoga, Zumba, Hula-hooping (led by Fusion Lifestyle) and Parkour (led by Parkour Experience)
Making workshops: Film-making (with Biggerhouse Films), animation (with young artists led by Create Studios), graffiti and graphic art (led by young artists supported by Play Torbay and artists working with Plymouth College of Art), Wordsmith Workshop (led by Firstborn Creatives), Soundart Radio Teen Take Over for the day – led by Young Broadcasters working with Soundart. House of Glam – Hair and Beauty Salon (led by young artists working with Lifeworks)
+ Comicfest - cosplay + comic stalls + comic artists (led by young artists working with GNASH Comics), Vintage gaming (led by young artists working with Soundart), Live band and DJ’s (led by young artists working with Soundart Radio)
