The Malsters Arms - September 2011
The Maltsters Arms is situated on the stunning Bow Creek in an idyllic spot.
With a fantastic atmosphere, a splendid selection of real ales, fine wine and local cider and a delicious new menu, it really is the perfect spot to while away an afternoon by the water, be it with family, friends or dog.
Dine in the superb restaurant overlooking the creek or, weather permitting, the quayside is a popular spot to eat and soak up the atmosphere.
There are many new and imaginative dishes on the menu, created with fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients including River Teign moules frites, Bigbury Bay oysters, Occombe Farm beef and local catch of the day.
Previously owned by the flamboyant, celebrity chef Keith Floyd you can still see many of his quirky touches around both the pub and the bed & breakfast. New owner George Welsh is continuing along the same vein. George, originally from Salisbury and from a brewing background, took the helm in June this year. Already fully immersed in and loving Tuckenhay life, he is ready to bring a new energy to this lively, popular pub.
As well as the regular live music, there will be plenty of fun and exciting events on the calendar starting with The Maltsters Arms Beer and Oyster Festival from Friday 23rd September - Sunday 25th September. What’s more, keen sportsman George, will be screening the forthcoming Rugby World Cup, so if you want to watch the games amid a great atmosphere then The Maltsters is an ideal venue. Find out more about what’s on, by popping in and having a chat with George or any of his friendly team, or by visiting www.tuckenhay.com.
Not only can you enjoy the guest beers, local cider and fabulous food, why not make a weekend of it and stay at one of the fabulous five rooms in The Old Winery. Each en-suite room is unique with its own individual theme, courtesy of Keith Floyd.
The Maltsters Arms has something to offer for everyone. It is an excellent spot for yachties, hikers, birdwatchers and there is excellent crabbing off the quayside for children. The pub makes an ideal watering hole for all craft along the river; moorings and water are provided along the quayside, so head down for lunch, dinner or just a refreshing drink. Soak up the atmosphere, listen to the local gossip and enjoy the stunning views.
