When Saveurs opened its doors more than 6 years ago, we didn’t realise how many challenges we would face and how much we would learn that makes us the success we are today.
Recently we have introduced a new flour to make our croissants which creates a very light and flaky pastry, whilst also still using one of the best 99.9% pure butters, sourced in Belgium, giving our croissants an incredibly creamy flavour.
To bake our favourite bread, we continue to use the same flour, which comes straight from France every month. Some of our customers travel for hours to collect their bread order - mostly they freeze and defrost it as required
We source our flour from a small private flourmill in Normandy where quality and tradition is respected. This helps us to make consistently good quality bread. We could talk endlessly about our fabulous bread with its fantastic flavours and great texture.
Every single patisserie we sell is made in our production unit up at Townstal each morning.
We do change the flavours and texture through the seasons. Summer is coming and it’s a joy for us to create our uniquely colourful and fresh displays of our seasonal patisserie. For example, we can‘t wait to pick local strawberries with our sons that will make the most delicious strawberry tart with a light sable base.
When we open each morning, our customers are often impatient to come in which makes us both a little stressed but very proud.
Our breakfast has become very popular. We use amazing local eggs supplied by a Moreleigh-based family farmer. Scrambled eggs with crispy bacon or smoked salmon is the most popular breakfast served in our own particular way with a fine slice of just toasted soft bread on the side. Our French breakfast includes different kinds of toasted Saveurs French bread, our hand made jam and delicious hot drinks such as our own hot chocolate made with real vanilla pods, caramel, valrhona chocolate and great English dairy milk... a favourite!
Our lunch menu is prepared daily in our open kitchen in the shop. The menu offers a very good value lunch. Everything you order will be prepared in front of you. The menu includes the most fluffy omelette, the incredible fine pizza with a Saveur’s own hand-made tomato and basil sauce, Croque-Monsieur, filled baguettes and much, much more. We also have a Children’s menu.
Outside Catering is something that we love doing, providing a very good level of service. We take the time to sit down and discuss your requirements for the perfect event. It reminds us a lot of when we were working in Michelin star restaurants and hotels. It is very exciting. All the feedback from our previous customers is fantastic and we would love to thank them for using us.
Finally we are also taking orders for cakes, both large and small. The Bespoke Cake is one of our favourites. These cakes add to our picture album and experience every time. The last challenge was to create a Meerkat cake and the next one will be a golf course with beautiful grass...
