Rockfish Brixham Refurb - Final Result
Mitch Tonks expanding Rockfish restaurant and takeaway business opens at the historic Brixham fishing port right above the market in April, providing 130 covers plus a take-away.
The restaurant on the first floor has indoor and outing eating overlooking the harbour and fishing port, along with a private dining room where diners will be able to book bespoke seafood feasts such as sea bass roasted in salt, shellfish feasts and roasted Turbot, the catch all from the morning’s market, right outside the door!
Downstairs is the take-away, frying the day’s Brixham fish and in the morning the cafe serves fish breakfasts from 7 - 11am - scallop and back bacon rolls & smoked haddock on the menu and you can bring your own fish from the morning’s market and we’ll cook it up for you! There is an area used to prepare fresh Brixham fish for Mitch’s other restaurants in Dartmouth, Plymouth, Torquay and Bristol, in an open facility so guests and visitors can see the fish being prepared and packed, and get a glimpse of the amazing market that operates here.
The atrium to the front and rear gives guests a prime view of the harbour and the town as they ascend the stairs, there are lots of windows that open giving the inside an al fresco feeling in keeping with the setting and sense of place. The interior has a mix of hardwood seating and beach hut feel with a log fire and copper topped bar central to the restaurant.
Mitch says “We are hoping to make the restaurant a great addition to our town which is already famous for its fish and fish restaurants as well as the bustling port. We want to create a destination that will attract seafood lovers from all over the world that will ultimately enjoy and spend time and money in our town & community. I have a real belief that the fish is the best in the world so to be able to share that is just brilliant. We are looking forward to building a great team who will love the site as much as we do.”
