‘FAIRFAX’ BRASSERIE REOPENS
With the Dartmouth Apprentice, Jan & Freddies and The Angel all recently closed, it did seem suddenly that Dartmouth’s reputation as a focus for many restaurants was beginning to wane. Readers will be pleased to learn, therefore, that the team behind the Stoke Lodge Hotel in Stoke Fleming (Chris & Steve Mayer) have relaunched the old ‘Jan & Freddies’ on Fairfax Place as the ‘Simply Fairfax Brasserie”. With Steve & Chris’ daughter, Sigourney and her husband Rowan as chefs, this young and enthusiastic team are cooking ‘good food served simply’. The focus is on reasonably priced grills of fresh fish, pork belly, marinated chicken, scallops, steaks etc. Main courses are priced £14 -£15 on average with fillet steaks at only around £18. Wines are very competitively priced starting around £12. The brasserie is open from 6.30pm, five nights a week from Thursday through to Monday. To book, telephone 01803 834130.
