Phil Scoble Dartmouth BID
Dartmouth Business Improvement Disctrict
Hello and welcome to the first update in By the Dart for the Dartmouth Business Improvement District. We are working to boost the economic performance of the town, reduce business costs and help businesses respond better to the challenges they face in Dartmouth.
New BID Manager
Our new BID Manager, Phil Scoble, started on June 2nd – and already loves the role! Phil is charged with delivering the BID’s five year Business Plan with the support of the BID board. The aim of the BID is to increase the revenues of Dartmouth businesses and decrease costs – and Phil is working with the BID Board to help achieve this for the town.
Phil is keen to engage with as many BID levy payers as possible, so if you have a question for him about the BID, or if you would like to get involved and be part of the BID’s work for the good of the town, get in touch! Call him on 07721 206 879 or email contact@darmtouthbid.co.uk.
Marketing Campaign
The BID’s Marketing Team is working with our chosen marketing agency, Chaos, on our new brand and its first national marketing campaign.
This is the first national campaign for Dartmouth EVER and we hope it will have a big impact on out of season visitors, as well as starting to attract new business to the town too.
There will be a Brand Workshop at Dartmouth Academy on July 8th to show off the new brand and look at how Business Rate Payers can use it in their own advertising – it is designed to be adaptable to any use you can think of!
We would like to invite all levy payers to come up to the Academy to be part of the workshop to see the brand, find out how to get their hands on a digital version of the brand and connect with members of the BID team to find ways they can make the most of the brand and the marketing campaign too. The Academy will also be offering a special meal deal at its unique View restaurant after the workshop.
If you are a ratepayer and would like more information on the Brand Workshop, please call BID Manager Phil Scoble on 07721 206 879 or email contact@darmtouthbid.co.uk.
Footfall Cameras
One of the aims of the BID is to make sure it measures the success of its marketing campaigns and finds ways to give businesses the information they need to make decisions about their future.
One of the ways to do this is to measure footfall in the town and, with that in mind, two footfall cameras will be installed in the town in the near future. The BID is delighted to have chosen Springboard as the company to deliver this exciting new resource for our town.
All the information gathered by these cameras will be available to all Business Rate Payers for free!
BID Chairman Stands down
Dartmouth Business Improvement Chairman Paul Reach has stood down from the role following the sale of his business.
Paul has been one of the main driving forces behind the BID’s development over the last two years, securing funding to support the development of a business plan, working to develop the BID and then successfully leading the campaign for a ‘Yes’ vote from Business Rates payers for the BID in November last year.
Following the sale of the D’Art Gallery in Lower Street, which he has been running with wife Brenda since 1999, Paul has stepped back from the role of Chairman.
The BID Board selected Royal Castle Hotel owner Nigel Way as Paul’s replacement at a Board meeting on June 19. Nigel will now step down as Chairman of the Tourist Information Centre.
Nigel said: “I’m delighted to be taking up the role of chairman following on from Paul who was so important to its formation. The BID is in a very healthy state with our first national marketing campaign and other projects about to start. That is down to Paul’s dedication and hard work over the last two years has made them all possible, and I’d like to publicly thank and congratulate him on his achievements.”
