Amanda Dyer
Who are you?
Amanda Dyer, Yoga Teacher
What type of yoga do you teach?
I am British Wheel of Yoga trained in Hatha Yoga which is a gentle form of yoga and probably the most adaptable to all abilities. I have been practising yoga for 30 years and teaching it for 15.
Where do you teach yoga?
I teach three classes – Monday evenings at Dartmouth Rowing Club, Thursday mornings at the Flavel Centre and Thursday evenings in Dittisham Village Hall. I also teach privately, either on a one-to-one basis or couples.
What’s so great about yoga?
Yoga is so good because not only does it maintain flexibility and strength in the body but also in the mind. Breath awareness is also amazingly important to maintain health and cope with stress.
Are there any other benefits?
Yes, regular practice of yoga improves your sex life (look at the Karma Sutra!)
Do you know any yoga jokes?
A young woman who was worried about her habit of biting her fingernails down to the quick was advised by a friend to take up yoga. She did, and soon her fingernails were growing normally. Her friend asked her if yoga had totally cured her nervousness. “No,” she replied, “but now I can reach my toenails so I bite them instead”.
Ha ha. Do you know any more?

Yoga who?
Yoga to try this, it feels amazing.
Do you have any other strings to your bow?
I am a yachtmaster and have begun to teach sailing theory and practice.
Who will you teach?
I shall specialise in teaching women and it’s going to be fun. The whole experience will be enjoyable and tailor made to suit the client. Complete beginners are welcome and we will begin gently – a yogic approach to sailing!
