Made It! One Year and Going Strong
There’s something about ‘Made it’ that makes even the novice crafter, seamstress or jewellery maker want to reach for the scissors, pins, tools, beads and fabrics in a flurry of creative activity to make all manner of fabricky, beady goodness! Contented sighs of ‘I’m in heaven’, ‘I’m so inspired’, ‘I could spend all day here’, can be heard every day at ‘Made it’.
From bright, colourful fabrics, beautiful shiny beads, buckets of buttons and handmade textile products the shoppers eyes are pulled in every direction. Customers are drawn into the shop because of the fantastic array of colours, unique ideas and wonderful window displays....the latest of which has a stunning wirework crown and some jubilee knickers!
May 19th saw the 1st Birthday celebrations of ‘Made it’. Yvonne Temple, the inspirational owner, was delighted that the shop had reached this fantastic milestone and ensured that her customers could celebrate with her in true Birthday style!
There were amazing homemade cakes and biscuits for customers to enjoy as well as 10% discount and a free pair of earrings. A well earned bottle of champagne was also popped at the end of the day!!
‘Made it’ stocks everything a crafter may need for jewellery making and sewing but also has lots of lovely unique handmade gift ideas all presented in a ‘homely’ atmosphere with friendly service.
Over the last year the stock at ‘Made it’ has expanded and now includes fantastic felt making kits, felt animal kits - which include ‘Mr Poop’ the pigeon and ‘Jenson Jones’ the tortoise - an ever expanding collection of beads, waterproof cushions that can be left outside all year round without fear of mildew or rotting, traditional stripy deck-chairs and jewellery making kits - the most popular of which is the ‘One hour necklace’.
Yvonne spends her days, when not running the ever increasingly popular workshops, sewing all manner of textile products. Appliqué towels with rows of beach huts, boats or camper vans, phone and glasses cases, ipad covers, kindle cosy’s, cushions and bags all in Yvonne’s signature style - bright, fun and lots of quirky appliqué.
An important and very popular part of the ‘Made it’ business are the workshops. These are held at the shop and include Wirework, Beginners jewellery making and, new for this year, Chainmaille. Sewing workshops are also on offer at ‘Made it’. Learn to use your sewing machine or brush up your rusty skills whilst making cushions and bags.
Another new workshop this year is a 3 week, evening, Dressmaking course.
The summer holidays will see a huge range of workshops on offer aimed at both childrenand adults alike from short one hour classes making memory wire bracelets and necklaces to longer workshops such as charm bracelets, wire work and Chainmaille.
Yvonne would like to say a HUGE thank you to all those customers, friends and family who supported Made it in so many ways last year and looks forward to welcoming you in the near future.
