BRNC TO FEATURE IN NEW BBC TV SERIES
Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) will feature in a new series set for broadcast on BBC 1 this Sunday (17 November).
The College was filmed for the series Britain and the Sea presented by David Dimbleby. Made in partnership with the National Maritime Museum, the series will show David setting out in his boat Rocket to explore Britain’s relationship with the sea, while discovering how the waters around our shores have inspired art and literature.
Filming for the programme took place at BRNC last year and looks at the development of the Royal Navy and the history of the College. It will feature in the first episode of the four part series, entitled ‘Adventure and Exploration’, due for transmission at 9 pm.
In episode two entitled ‘Invasion and Defence’, David visits HMS Victory, Nelson’s flagship from the Battle of Trafalgar, at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. He also climbs aboard HMS Warrior to demonstrate how shipbuilding was modified in the industrial age of steam power in the 1830s.
