How do you keep looking good when you are suffering from a cold or flu?
That’s a tough one. To avoid getting one or both of these, wash your hands frequently, stay away from those already suffering and do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth to prevent germs entering through these chinks in the body’s armour.
A cold is heralded by a stuffy nose, sore throat and sneezing. The flu brings tiredness, headaches, fever and general aches and pains. A cough can join either party. You should try to cough or sneeze directly into a tissue and then throw it away.
Drink plenty of fluids. Hot fluids can relieve a scratchy throat which may be why the chicken soup brings comfort. Taking lots of rest and using a humidifier can also help. While you are doing all this essential resting you can fit in a few beauty treatments to make yourself feel better if not look much better. I am not suggesting anything too taxing just some gentle mixing, stirring and then lots of lying down reading something lightweight and preferably trashy.
Start with a soothing bath. The steam will do wonders for your blocked nose and irritating cough. Cleopatra was onto something with her famous milk baths. Milk soothes, moisturises and cleanses. Lavender is cleansing, has astringent properties and repairs the skin while promoting rapid healing. Honey is wonderfully regenerative, gently cleansing, soothes, softens and heals the skin.
