The Barnfield Theatre
The Barnfield Theatre is situated in the centre of Exeter on Barnfield Road in Southernhay.
The building dates from 1890 and was used by the Exeter Literacy Society, presenting talks, lectures, magic lantern slides shows, music and dance displays.
In 1972 a raked Auditorium was added and the Barnfield Theatre was reopened to be used by local Amateur and Professional Companies. The theatre is run by Barnfield Theatre Ltd, a registered charity.
The main auditorium provides an uninterrupted view of the stage from any seat, with excellent acoustics. It is suitable for conferences, concerts and stage productions.
The Clifford Room is situated on the ground floor of the Barnfield. It is used for many different purposes such as rehearsal space, conference rooms, studio theatre, parties etc.
The seating is modular allowing raked or flat floor seating and can be arranged for any theatrical requirements such as in a round or traverse setting.
A bar and café are also situated on the ground floor, serving food and drinks though the day and during performance evenings. The Theatre Box Office is in the foyer, selling tickets for all the shows in the theatre.
