The Calm after the Storm 27/10/13
A Little Windy in Dartmouth Last Night!
It was pretty windy last night (27/10/2013) but perhaps not as destructive as expected, at least here in Dartmouth. The above graph appears on the NCI Froward Point website. This records weather at their station situated at the mouth of the River Dart. Their instruments recorded a highest gust of 62.6 knots at 23.41 last night. Pretty windy (just shy of hurricane force) but slightly less than the record of 68.7 knots recorded there on 12th May last year. The highest average wind speed (we think that means the average recorded over 10 minutes?) was 56.1 knots (violent storm force 11) but again just shy of the record of 58.9 knots on 14/11/2009.
It all calmed down quite quickly but thank goodness they got the marquees at the Food Festival down in time. The photo above by Dan Scoble was taken at 7am this morning (28/10/2013) and shows the calm after the storm.
